Nearly all the images have been taken with the vessels sailing on the River Forth. This can be further narrowed down to the stretch of the river where the iconic Fort Bridges are situated. Using these bridges where possible as a backdrop adds additional interest to the images. Some of the photos are taken from the Forth Road Bridge which offers a high vantage point to get a different angle when viewing vessels. All types of vessels are included. Commercial ships such as Cargo, Container and Tankers have separate albums. Many of the Tanker shots are taken when they visit either Braefoot Bay or Hound Point which are close to the Forth Bridges. The other images of commercial ships will have been taken as they head up to or return from the port at Grangemouth or Inverkeithing Harbour. A number of images show Cruise Liners. These moor a few hundred yards to the east of the Forth Bridge. Their passengers are taken by Tenders to South Queensferry where buses take them to visit the sights of Edinburgh. Some of the liners head into the port at Rosyth where passengers can disembark and visit local sights.

One album that was not taken beside the Forth Bridges is of the El Galeón Andalucía. These were taken in the port of St Helier while I was on holiday in Jersey. Again not all the images of Ferries were taken on the Forth. Some were taken where they operate in Jersey and Tenerife. The images taken on the Forth are of vessels heading to Rosyth for maintenance work. An album shows the four vessels that are used to take tourists on trips on the Forth to get a close up view of the Bridges and to Inchcolm Island. They leave from South Queensferry and are extremely popular. Rosyth has a naval tradition and in recent years has built Aircraft Carriers and Frigates. The departure of the Carriers is a great site as it is maneuvered out of the Port. Other naval vessels visit for maintenance.

There are many Tugs that operate on the Forth. These small powerful vessels are vital to ensure the safe arrival from the Ports and marine terminal on the Forth. Watching multiple tugs maneuver large Aircraft Carriers is great to see and photograph.

Small pleasure craft also use the Forth, many being based at Port Edgar which lies between the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing.
